Casting is currently underway on James Gunn’s upcoming film Superman: Legacy. The highly-anticipated DC adaptation is set to launch an all-new shared universe titled the DC Universe. Now it looks like one MCU actor might be leaving Marvel to join the DCU.
The cast of Superman: Legacy has been partially announced with stars like David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nathan Fillion, and Nicholas Hoult set to appear. And while many of these cast members are playing important roles like Superman, Lois Lane, and Guy Gardner, there are no doubt other parts that need to be filled.
This is where the exciting rumor comes in. As you can see below, one actor tightly associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems to be in talks with James Gunn to appear in the DCU. Now this hasn’t been confirmed – but it does seem to be heavily implied.
Actor Dave Bautista, known for playing Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy film franchise, made it clear that Guardians 3 would be his last outing as the character. This happened just as James Gunn made it clear that he too would be leaving the MCU behind to focus on building the DC Universe.
Now Bautista has shared on his Instagram story that he was at the Warner Bros. lot in James Gunn’s parking space. Gunn also replied almost immediately:
“Hey @davebautista,” Gunn begins, “I can’t believe you’re parking your body in my space.”

It’s a humorous interaction and it suggests that the two may be having talks with one another. Especially with Gunn busily casting roles for Superman: Legacy. It seems to indicate that Bautista could have a role in the film – though it’s unclear what character he could play.
