The production of the upcoming MCU movie Deadpool 3 has been quite interesting to follow. In addition to behind-the-scenes issues like the SAG-AFTRA strike, there have been plenty of other interesting developments including the film’s cast. Now it looks like one fan-favorite Marvel star in particular could be returning for Deadpool 3.
It’s worth noting that a number of other fan-favorite stars have already returned for the upcoming film. Perhaps most notably is that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be joining right alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. This alone has been the kind of team-up that fans have been hoping for.
Fortunately, fans might be getting another long-awaited reunion between characters. Surprisingly enough, this return might’ve seemed even less likely to happen. Especially when given Disney’s acquisition of Fox.
This particular acquisition made it uncertain how they planned to use their newly-acquired X-Men characters. Though more characters from Fox’s franchise have been appearing in recent projects. Now one other character could be returning for Deadpool 3.
According to Daniel Richtman via Patreon, however, none other than Logan star Dafne Keen entered talks to return prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike and that they’ve now closed a deal. Fans will recall that Keen played Wolverine’s younger female clone, X-23, in the hit blockbuster. It seemed as though she would have returned as the character, otherwise known as Laura, sooner, though those plans were likely tossed aside when Disney acquired Fox.
Of course, this report should still be taken with a grain of salt. Especially as nothing has been confirmed at this time and plot details are being kept under wraps. Though it is obvious that the Multiverse will play a huge role in this film, so perhaps there will be room for Laura to return. If not in this film, then perhaps elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theaters next year on July 26, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
