Disney’s Marvel Studios is still working ahead with building the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The massive franchise first began with Iron Man in 2008 and has since expanded to a number of other films, shows, and spin-off projects. Now it looks like as many as four new MCU sequels are reportedly in development.
With the release of Avengers: Endgame, the MCU has gone to great lengths to introduce a new number of superheroes. These characters are expected to carry on as the next Avengers team and even other groups like the Young Avengers and X-Men. Now, according to insider Daniel Richtman, he claims that some of these characters will be returning in four new sequels.
Interestingly, while most of these focus on the aforementioned new characters, there are also some older fan-favorites that could be making a comeback. This will no doubt excite fans that have been missing some of their favorite superheroes as new characters continue to be introduced.
Here’s the list of MCU sequels that are reportedly in development:
Eternals 2
Doctor Strange 3
Black Panther 3
Thor 5
RUMOR: ‘ETERNALS 2’, ‘DOCTOR STRANGE 3’, ‘BLACK PANTHER 3’ and ‘THOR 5’ are currently in development at Marvel Studios!

This is definitely an interesting list of sequels. Of course, it makes sense that we’d be seeing more of the Eternals given the ending of that film. While the movie wasn’t the best received by fans, it certainly opened up some major narratives for the franchise. Likewise, it makes sense that Doctor Strange would come back for another outing and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also paved a path forward.
Thor 5 is an interesting prospect because it’s unknown how long Chris Hemsworth plans on staying involved with the MCU. He’s one of the few original Avengers that hasn’t departed the franchise. On that note, Thor: Love and Thunder seemed to be something of a finale for his character. But if Marvel Studios has plans for Thor 5, then it will be interesting to see what this means for the fan-favorite character.
As always, this should be taken with a grain of salt. But it wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios really does have plans for these films in addition to their other upcoming projects. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional MCU updates as we have them.
