Celebrity Billie Eilish is facing backlash on X for a number of comments regarding body-shaming. This began with a more recent comment made by Eilish, and resulted in fans bringing up a 2019 interview which has some similarly controversial comments.
As she explained to Variety, Eilish was upset by the way people reacted to her body when she chose to wear a tank top in public at age 16. She claims that men don’t feel the same experiences regarding how people view their bodies.
Here’s what she shared:
“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies,” Eilish told Variety. “If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice. They don’t give a fuck because we see people for who they are!”
Billie Eilish says men don’t face criticism about their bodies because girls are nice:

This is false and a little tone deaf, a lot ofppl go through criticism both as men and female and every experience is valid

I love Billie but men receive criticism all the time for their bodies. If a guy is too fat, too short, or whatever, they are criticized by both men and women. I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s as bad as what women have experienced for decades because that would be an obvious…

As for her previous comments that have resurfaced as a result, they can be traced back to a 2019 YouTube video from Pitchfork. She shared the following controversial statements regarding men:
“Why is every pretty girl with a horrible-looking man, I don’t understand,” she said during the interview.
“Listen, I’m not shaming people for their looks, but I am though. You give an ugly guy a chance, he thinks he rules the world,” she said. “I swear to god, because they got a hot girl, they can be horrible? Like, you’re still ugly though.”
She also stated that men would have to “make up for” the size of their genitals. As such, there have been plenty of responses against Eilish. It’s certainly an interesting perspective and one that some users have tried to justify.
