Over the years, fans have been introduced to a number of characters in the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe – with each bringing their own unique things to the popular franchise. MCU fans have been wondering about the return of one character – and now, it should make some feel better knowing it’s been confirmed.
The return may come as a surprise to some, as The Marvels didn’t put up great box office numbers and reports even suggested the movie’s main star wanted out of the role altogether. But, according to a new interview, there is something indeed lined up in the future for the Marvel character.
Speaking with ET, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson was careful not to spoil any of Marvel Studios’ upcoming plans, but did point out there that there is something in the works:
“I don’t want Marvel to come for me,” she said, regarding that she didn’t want to spoil any of the studio’s plans. “But there is something,” she teases.
“There is definitely something, to answer your question, that I would want to say, but I am not going to.”
Larson adds that Captain Marvel, aka Carol Danvers, is a “great character” and one that she wants “to continue to grow with.” Indeed, Captain Marvel has certainly come a long way since she was first introduced in Avengers: Infinity War for the film’s post-credits scene. After The Marvels, however, she’s clearly ready to be part of the main roster.
The MCU will be receiving two more Avengers films. There are currently plans for Avengers: Secret Wars and an additional film titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Of course, The Kang Dynasty has been having some issues behind-the-scenes, so it’s unknown how the plan will ultimately unfold.
Interestingly, The Marvels actually ended with a tease that involved the X-Men franchise. Marvel Studios is clearly having fun with their newly-acquired characters, and we’ll have to see what that means for all facets of the MCU.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Brie Larson and her role as Captain Marvel in the MCU as we have them. For now, it’s clear that The Marvels won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing her on the big screen.
