As the Marvel Cinematic Universe progresses, both with movies and television, the timeline has become increasingly complex. Nevertheless, Disney Plus has done a great job at keeping fans up-to-date, by organizing its content offerings in a chronological timeline. However, they recently made one notable timeline correction with a Phase 4 MCU title.
Fans have often debated the chronological setting of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The previous MCU timeline indicated that it took place after the events of Phase 3’s Spider-Man: Far From Home. Now, however, it looks like that’s no longer the case.
It’s now clear that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been placed between the two Disney Plus shows WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This does seem to make more sense both narratively and within the MCU’s organized phases. As such, fans are safe from debating once more, as Marvel Studios has used Disney Plus to clarify when Shang-Chi really takes place.
Here’s the complete timeline with the newly-located Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings added to its proper spot on the list:

Hopefully this improves the viewing experience for fans that enjoy watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfold in correct chronological order. And, as the Multiverse becomes more involved, it’s more important now than ever to keep track of the various timelines going on. Especially knowing that they’re ultimately leading to the events of two major Avengers films: Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. It’s clear that Phase 5 and Phase 6 will both be very important chapters for the MCU.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel updates as we have them. For now, fans can watch Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in addition to essentially all other MCU films and shows via Disney Plus.
