Stephen King‘s iconic novel Pet Sematary has been adapted for the screen several times over the decades. Of course, the original 1989 adaptation remains one of the most popular iterations, and even one of the more popular movies based on Stephen King’s work. Now the “famous Pet Sematary truck” has been beautifully restored for Halloween.
The truck, a custom Peterbilt 378, was used in one of the film’s most tragic scenes. Fans will recall the moment when young Gage Creed runs into the road where the Peterbilt is speeding through. Sadly, Gage is killed, and the real plot of the film is set into motion. As such, the truck is integral to the film, and after being discovered quite some time ago, the Peterbilt has now been completely restored.
Fans can see the Peterbilt truck from Pet Sematary in some of the images shared below via Facebook:
It’s been kept on a lot owned by V.L. Tammaro in Baileyville, Maine. Kids were invited on Halloween to visit the truck and even take pictures near the iconic vehicle. Of course, one can imagine many Stephen King fans in the area also took the opportunity. And while the truck was located in the past, it’s condition wasn’t the best. Now it’s as vividly beautiful as ever, as if it came straight out of the film. Quite a feat for a truck that’s several decades old.
Of course, it goes to show just how much staying power the original adaptation of Pet Sematary has. Though there have been additional films, including a newer remake and a Paramount Plus prequel to said film, fans continue to go back to the original classic.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional horror news as we have it. For now, it’s nice to see a piece of horror genre history preserved, especially given its condition in the past. Hopefully the truck continues to receive the attention and care that it deserves.
