The effects of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike are finally starting to show. It’s just been announced by Disney that their live-action adaptation of Snow White will face a delay from 2024 to 2025. Additionally, they’ve unveiled the first look at the upcoming fantasy feature.
As noted via THR, “Disney on Friday announced it is delaying the release of its live-action Snow White movie starring Rachel Zegler by a year from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025.” The publication notes how important the film is to the story, adding that it “is among the studio’s biggest offerings of the year, and is one of the anchors of its spring slate.”
This is only one of several Disney productions being moved around due to the ongoing strike. To accompany the news, however, Disney also revealed the first look at Snow White. As you can see below, it looks like the film will have digital recreations of the iconic dwarf characters from the original animated film as surrounded by star Rachel Zegler:

It’s likely that this is only the beginning of delays coming from not just Disney but other Hollywood studios as well. Of course, one can hope that production will resume soon once the strike comes to an end. In the meantime, this is certainly an interesting look at the film, especially considering so many fans of the original classic have been eager to see what direction the remake would go in.
The upcoming Snow White adaptation is being directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay penned by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
