The Disney Plus series Loki has returned for its second season. Unfortunately, the return of the series has been followed with some controversy, which the creators of Loki hope that fans will ignore going into the new season.
Fans will recall that Jonathan Majors‘ MCU character, Kang the Conqueror, is intended to be the next big bad of the cinematic franchise. Loki is one of the properties setting up his role, and Jonathan Majors is set to play a much bigger part in the new season. However, the actor has been involved with some legal issues regarding allegations of domestic violence, so things haven’t been going smoothly to say the least.
In any case, Loki co-creator Kevin Wright had the following to say about the controversy while speaking with BuzzFeed:
“My hope is they are engrossed by the story and not only his performance, but all the performances. There’s a reason why I said it’s the story we set out to make, it’s a good story and it’s really beautifully performed by everybody. So my hope is that people will embrace it and enjoy it, but I also understand that it’s a complicated situation.”
Ultimately, they know “that it’s a complicated situation.” But they hope that fans will be wiling to put that aside and simply watch the show for what it is. Furthermore, they hope that fans will be able to appreciate Majors’ performance, in addition to those of all the other actors, as the new season of the series progresses.
Jonathan Majors has already pleaded not guilty to the allegations, in which his ex-girlfriend claimed that he hit her. The two have since been involved with a lawsuit. While Majors seems to have been dropped from a number of projects as a result, Disney is still eager to work with Majors, especially with the future of the MCU revolving so heavily around him. Of course, it’s possible that they have a few back up plans depending on how things go from here.
Fans can currently tune into Loki Season 2 via Disney Plus. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Jonathan Majors, Loki, and other such Marvel Cinematic Universe projects as we have them.
