One of Disney’s most iconic attractions happens to be their Pirates of the Caribbean ride. One such reason is that it helped inspire the hit film franchise of the same name. It turns out, however, that Disney has shut down the “offensive” Pirates of the Caribbean ride at their Walt Disney World resort.
This was shared via TikTok user @emilyrobxrts where they shared a video of the incident. She took the opportunity to experience the Pirates of the Caribbean ride before it was stopped altogether. Soon enough, the overhead lights were turned on, and she and other guests were evacuated off the ride.
As you can see in the TikTok video shared below:

Fortunately, she was quite satisfied with being evacuated. It turns out that she was desperately eager to explore the backstage eras of the ride. After all, it certainly is exciting to see the innerworkings of such an iconic ride.
“This is literally my dream,” she said in her TikTok video. “This entire trip I’ve been manifesting an in-show exit on Pirates of the Caribbean.”
It’s unknown why exactly the “offensive” ride was shut down. For those unaware, the ride has become controversial in recent years for its depiction of women being auctioned off. Disney attempted to soften the blow by turning one of the animatronics into an independent pirate character of her own, named Redd, which has become something of a fan-favorite in the years since with her redesign.
In fact, there have been rumors that a new movie iteration could even follow her character as opposed to Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow, though that has yet to come to fruition.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Disney updates as we have them. As of this writing, the ride is back in working order with normal operations in place.
