The Shrek movie franchise has become iconic for its fairy tale characters and locations. Now one such location, Shrek’s swamp which goes back to the opening of the very first movie from Dreamworks, can now be rented by fans via Airbnb.
The location is being featured for one weekend only this year, from October 27 to October 29. Additionally, it’s located in the Scottish Highlands in Scotland. But the amount of detail placed into the location is certainly worth the price.
Bookings for the spot will begin on October 13 at 6 PM BST. At this time, rates were not posted. Though if you manage to get the booking quickly enough – it’s worth noting that you’ll still have to pay to get to Scotland and all other fees. But diehard Shrek fans will likely have no problem as long as they have the cash to spare.

The official Airbnb listing describes some of the activities offered during “this spectacularly secluded swamp-scape” location:
“– Relax in the ambiance of “earwax candlelight”
– Kick your feet up with a parfait (everybody likes a parfait!)
– Swap stories around the fire until late in the night
– Enjoy a stack of freshly made waffles in the morning
– And of course, enjoy the ultimate privacy of Shrek’s trusted outhouse (you know the one)”
They also included the following details about the bathroom situation:
“Once you arrive and check-in, our on-site concierge will ensure a comfortable stay for you and your pals – including showing you around and arranging meals. Please note that toilet, sink and shower facilities will be located off-site, approximately 20 meters away from Shrek’s Swamp.”
Furthermore, “Airbnb will make a one-time donation to HopScotch Children’s Charity, which provides some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children with respite breaks through nurturing and dynamic holiday trips.”
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Shrek news as we have it. For now, there appears to be a fifth film in early development at Illumination. Hopefully we’ll have more details on that front soon.
