The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been expanded in some amazing ways thanks to Disney Plus. In fact, the streaming service allowed the release of Werewolf By Night, a critically acclaimed adaptation in the vein of classic Universal horror movies. As such, it was initially released in black-and-white, though Marvel is now making a major change to the Disney Plus movie.
The film was initially released for October in 2022 to celebrate the Halloween season. And, as mentioned, fans were delighted to finally have the titular character introduced to the MCU. Especially with its style being so close to Universal’s classic movies.
So, as revealed by Disney, they’ll be reintroducing a new version of the movie – in color – to celebrate this year’s Halloween season. Of course, many fans will continue viewing the film in black-and-white. As not only was this the original way the film was intended to be viewed, but it certainly aids in the atmosphere that’s clearly derivative of classic black-and-white horror films.

In any case, it’s a fun way to revisit the special all the same. Hopefully it also means that we’ll be seeing some of the fan-favorite characters from the special reappear in other upcoming MCU projects. With the likes of Blade slowly on the way, however, it seems more than likely that we’ll be returning to Marvel’s side of the horror genre soon.
The Werewolf by Night special was directed by Michael Giacchino. The screenplay was written by Taboo Nawasha and Benjamin Jackendoff.
Fans can currently stream Werewolf by Night on Disney Plus in addition to a wide number of other Marvel Cinematic Universe shows and films. The special is now currently available to stream on Hulu as part of Huluween as well.
The new version of the film in color will be able to stream on Disney Plus on October 20.
