The Star Wars franchise is flourishing on television with several film projects in development. There have been more than a few hiccups along the way, however, including controversies with The Mandalorian star Gina Carano who played Cara Dune.
As fans know, Gina Carano was fired by Disney and blacklisted by Hollywood as a result of controversial statements made on social media. It was unclear how this would impact the future of The Mandalorian, especially as Carano was intended to be a major player in the Star Wars franchise going forward. In fact, she would’ve reportedly led her own spin-off series with Rangers of the New Republic.
The release of The Mandalorian Season 3 made it clear, however, that Gina Carano’s character was simply written out of the story. There was no mention of Cara Dune and it seemed like it would stay that way over at Disney. Now, however, Gina Carano’s Cara Dune has made a surprising and unexpected return.
The return was noted by Fantha Tracks via Inside the Magic, where they noted that Cara Dune made a return at Disney’s Walt Disney World Resort. It appears that Disney has released a brand-new pin based on the character. “Nestled in a store on Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios just a short walk from the Black Spire Outpost of Batuu,” the publication writes, referencing Galaxy’s Edge, “was a recently released pin set and inside a potential Cara Dune pin.”

The details for the pin set were described as follows:
“The Nevarro: Home to the Imperial Remnant mystery pin set retails at $29.99 plus tax and includes two unknown pins out of a 10-pin collection. Other characters include Mando himself, Din Djarin, Moff Gideon, and Grogu.”
The pin set was made available as recently as last month in August. Of course, it’s unknown why Gina Carano’s character was included, especially two years after she was fired by Disney and excluded from the show’s third season.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional news regarding Star Wars and Gina Carano as we have it. For now, it’ll be interesting to see if more of Carano’s Cara Dune appears in the near future. For now, though, it seems as though her character will be relegated to the occasional piece of merchandise.
