Though the movie is more or less the end of the DCEU, fans are still excited to see what Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has in store. Now the first official trailer for Aquaman 2 has finally been released.
Interestingly, the newly-released trailer officially confirms a new record for DC. The release date of the trailer makes it the shortest window between the first trailer and its theatrical release date for a DC film. It’s unclear why exactly it took so long, of course, but given the upcoming DCU and other issues like the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, it’s clear that Hollywood is in something of a volatile state right now. Nevertheless, the trailer is here, and fans can finally get a good look at the new Aquaman sequel.
Here’s the official trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom:
It’s certainly nice to finally see promotion for this film start. After years of production, reshoots, and other such issues, the wait is finally about to be over. It’s unclear what exactly the future will be for Jason Momoa‘s Aquaman once the film is released, but hopefully there will still be a place for the actor in the DCU after all. As always, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
The new sequel is being directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. He co-wrote the first Aquaman film alongside Will Beall and James Wan.
In addition to Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Amber Heard as Mera, the cast of the film includes Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
Fans will be able to see Aquaman 2 when it hits theaters on December 20, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional DC updates as we have them.
