Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still coming to theaters despite numerous setbacks. One such setback, which happened early on in the movie’s production, is the controversy surrounding Amber Heard. And while she’s still part of Aquaman 2, it looks like the merchandise is taking a separate approach with Amber Heard.
You can see the issue in a photo featuring some brand-new merchandise down below. The photo reveals two upcoming action figures from the highly-anticipated film. This includes an Aquaman figure that looks a lot like Jason Momoa and a Mera figure that, well, does not look like Amber Heard.
The user who shared the photo claims that the figures are already available “in stores in some countries, which indicates that their release date, despite the null promotion, would be maintained.” As such, we should start seeing more of these figures as the inevitable release date of the film approaches.

Of course, it’s unknown why exactly the figure doesn’t resemble Amber Heard as well as the other resembles Jason Momoa. One could assume the controversies surrounding Heard are one such reason – but if that’s the case, then it’s unknown why she’s still in the film. As such, this will only be one other mystery left for fans to ponder.
The new sequel was directed by James Wan from a screenplay written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. He co-wrote the first Aquaman movie alongside Will Beall and James Wan.
In addition to Jason Momoa as Aquaman and Amber Heard as Mera, the cast of the film includes Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta.
Fans will be able to see Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in theaters on December 20, 2023. The film is then expected to be the last entry in the DCEU franchise before James Gunn and Peter Safran reboot the brand with the DCU.
