The Marvels will soon be hitting theaters as the final MCU movie of 2023. As the release date approaches, the marketing campaign for The Marvels is being hyped up, though the latest piece of advertising has star Brie Larson unrecognizable to fans.
Larson is known for her role as Captain Marvel, a role she played in the movie of the same name, and she reprised it for the end of the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel. The series itself directly lines up with the upcoming film The Marvels, and while fans are excited for the next chapter of the story, it looks like some are feeling confused.
As mentioned above, the latest advertisements for the film are surfacing. This includes a new wave of standees in theaters. According to some fans via Reddit, however, they feel that Brie Larson doesn’t look at all like herself. In fact, some fans are complaining about the possibility of bad photoshopping skills for the reason why.
How long have these been in theater lobbies?

It’s certainly disappointing when marketing doesn’t quite match the film at hand. It no doubt has fans wishful that studios would return to more classic poster styles and commissioning traditional artwork for their advertisements. But at a time when uses of photoshop and AI are at an all-time high, that doesn’t seem likely.
The upcoming MCU blockbuster The Marvels was directed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta from a script written by Megan McDonnell.
The cast for the highly-anticipated film includes Brie Larson as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel, Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau. Samuel L. Jackson also reprises his role as Nick Fury for the movie.
The Marvels is set to hit theaters everywhere on November 10, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional news on the upcoming film The Marvels and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have it.
