Stephen King is known for providing readers and moviegoers with some of the greatest horror stories in both film and literature, including his upcoming book Holly. Occasionally, however, Stephen King spotlights stories from other creators – and now he’s recommending a “tight little thriller” available to stream on Netflix.
In fact, this particular film – titled I Came By – is being compared by King to the works of Ruth Rendell and Patricia Highsmith. This is certainly high praise and a suggestion for fans of those authors should definitely check out this flick.
Here’s the tweet shared by Stephen King where he praises the movie:
Want a tight little thriller that will remind you of Ruth Rendell and Patricia Highsmith? Try I CAME BY (Netflix). It does the job.

It’s certainly wholesome to see Stephen King promote yet another film, especially one from Netflix where it can often be difficult to sift through all of the available titles.
Netflix’s synopsis of the film is as follows:
“A rebellious young graffiti artist targets the homes of London’s wealthy elite. When he discovers a dark secret about a prestigious judge, it leads him on a shocking journey endangering himself and those closest to him.”
Indeed, it is a very tense movie, and one where many fans seem to agree with King’s thoughts. And for those who haven’t yet seen the film – now might be the time. Especially with the Halloween season nearing, now is a good time to catch up on all of the new horror and thriller titles to celebrate the holiday.
I Came By was directed by Babak Anvari and written by Babak Anvari and Namsi Khan.
The cast of the film includes George MacKay, Percelle Ascott, Kelly Macdonald, and Hugh Bonneville.
