WWE superstar Bray Wyatt was a legendary performer who began an iconic career as horror movie-inspired character Wyatt in the world of wrestling. This included wearing a number of masks designed by special effects legend Tom Savini. Sadly, it’s now been confirmed that World Wrestling Entertainment’s Bray Wyatt, otherwise named Windham Rotunda, has died at age 36.
The news was confirmed via WWE Chief Content Officer Paul Michael Levesque, aka Triple H, on Twitter. While he notes that Wyatt “unexpectedly passed earlier today,” other details surrounding Wyatt’s death have not been revealed. It’s certainly a tragic occasion, however, considering just how young Wyatt was and what a great career he still had left ahead of him. Triple H finishes the message by urging fans to give Wyatt’s family privacy at this time.
Here’s what was shared:
“Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda – also known as Bray Wyatt – unexpectedly passed earlier today,” Triple H writes on Twitter. “Our thoughts are with his family and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

As mentioned, Wyatt was known for his use of eerie masks from Tom Savini which allowed him to appear as various fiendish characters. This led to his literal reintroduction as “The Fiend” in 2019, which was an alter ego created by Wyatt to appear even more horrifying and exciting. It was this level of dedication which kept fans intrigued by his performances and hyped up to see what he had next to offer fans and viewers. In fact, he was often considered a successor to WWE’s Undertaker.
