Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch has been a fan-favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe character ever since her film debut. However, Marvel is now facing backlash from fans of the character. They’ve made a very controversial decision by removing her likeness.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline has been increasingly complex in recent years. This is especially due to the Multiverse and how it’s reshaped the way we view Marvel comic book adaptations. Now, as shared below, an upcoming book titled The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline attempts to clarify these details.
The book originally featured a cover with Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch. This is where the controversy comes in. The cover was changed by having Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch replaced by Loki and Sylvie.
As you can see below:

Of course, it’s likely that this was devised as Scarlet Witch is dead and Loki and Sylvie are not. In fact, Loki Season 2 is set to premiere on Disney Plus this October, so it makes more sense from a marketing standpoint. But that doesn’t make it any easier for fans of Olsen’s character.
Fortunately, there are several projects in the works that could reportedly bring Olsen back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This includes the upcoming WandaVision spin-off titled Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Additionally, there are other major films like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars that could include her character or a variant thereof. So, while she isn’t being included on the front cover for The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline, it should be far from the end of Wanda Maximoff’s appearances.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe: An Official Timeline will be available for purchase on October 24, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel news as we have it. Hopefully we’ll see the return of Wanda Maximoff sooner rather than later.
