Marvel has continuously reinvented their characters to keep storylines fresh and exciting for readers. Now Marvel has teased a surprising change for their most powerful hero.
A brand-new four-issue series titled Sentry is set to revolve around the titular character. Fans of Sentry are well-aware that Bob Reynolds, the character that eventually becomes Sentry, gained an incredible amount of power after taking an experimental super soldier serum. This not only made him the all-powerful aforementioned hero, but also the Void, which is his evil dark half that he’s forced the Marvel comic book universe (and himself) to forget several times.
The character’s most recent death came during the “King in Black” event. This marked the final appearance of his normal form outside of a cameo as Revenant Prime. Now, however, Sentry #1 will reintroduce the character in a surprising new way as shared by the official Marvel website.
Specifically, it looks like Sentry’s powers and some of his memories are being passed to ordinary people across the world. Of course, this also means that some of these people are using his powers for evil, and now an all-out war is breaking out between the factions.
As shared by writer Jason Loo:
“This new chapter of the Sentry has an intriguing concept: on top of all the responsibilities and struggles a single person has to deal with in their everyday life, can one also handle the power of a million exploding suns?” Loo said. “It’s a fun opportunity for me to create new characters that readers can see themselves in and bestow them these earth-shaking powers.”
The new series is penned by Jason Loo with artwork by Luigi Zagaria. In addition to the titular character, the series will include appearances from Misty Knight and Jessica Jones.
Fans will be able to pick up Sentry #1 in December. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel updates as we have them.
