Though production on Snow White has temporarily paused due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, that hasn’t stopped star Rachel Zegler from discussing her part in the film. In fact, a new clip has surfaced in which Zegler explains some of the story changes made to the film. Specifically because the prince in the original film was a “stalker.”
As the video shared below reveals, Rachel Zegler began by saying how the original animated film “very evidently” came out in 1933. “The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so,” she begins. Though next she criticizes the prince character in the film and her love story with him:
“There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird! Weird. So, we didn’t do that this time.”
Rachel Zegler continues to explain that the new Snow White film doesn’t include much of a love story and even that the prince’s scenes could all be cut:
“[The new movie] is really not about the love story at all, which is really, really wonderful,” she added. “All of [the Prince’s] scenes could get cut, who knows? It’s Hollywood, baby.”

It does seem like she referred to the prince’s scenes being cut as a joke. Of course, we’ll have to see what happens. There’s really no telling what could happen with the film at this point – especially given how many changes they’ve already made compared to the source material.
The upcoming Disney movie Snow White is being directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay penned by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson. The original story stems from an 1812 fairy tale from the Brothers Grimm. The project has already faced backlash due to controversial decisions made with its dwarf characters. Many of the roles have been diversified and almost all of them have been given to normal-sized people as opposed to actors with dwarfism.
Snow White is expected to be released in 2024 though no official release date has been set. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
