Fans are eager to know which DC characters from the continuity which began with Man of Steel will carry into the DC Universe. Unfortunately for those fans, things are looking grim, especially as DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced new versions of Superman and Batman. Now it looks like the possibility of Wonder Woman 3 has likewise gone away.
Gal Gadot, the star of Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984, has been rather chatty about the possibility of Wonder Woman 3. She’s insisted that she has been developing the project with both Gunn and Safran. According to Deadline, however, that’s not the case.
They’ve shared that “there are no plans for a Wonder Woman 3 at Warner Bros.’ DC Studios.”
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean the end for Gal Gadot’s run as Wonder Woman. In fact, James Gunn seems to have teased that the character could appear in animation. And, if Gadot has been having conversations with Safran and Gunn about a return, it could be in that particular medium. As indicated by Gunn in the below tweet from several months ago:
No we’re working on getting Wonder Woman into more animation. I agree that there hasn’t been enough of her in that area and was one of the first things I brought up to the animation folks.

Furthermore, there is a live-action Paradise Lost series in the works, but it takes place before Gadot’s character is born. But it wouldn’t be surprising if it somehow tied into future appearances of the character. So, with that in mind, the doorway is still open for anything to happen. As of this moment, however, it doesn’t seem like Wonder Woman 3 is officially in the works. So we’ll just have to wait and see what materializes.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional DCU updates as we have them. Hopefully Gal Gadot still has the opportunity to work with DC in the near future. Especially given how many fans there are of her tenure as Wonder Woman.
