Actor Mark Margolis has become widely-recognized in recent years for his role as Hector Salamanca in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Now, following quite the acting career over the decades, Margolis has sadly died at age 83.
As shared via Fox News, he “passed away Aug. 3 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York with his family by his side following a short illness,” as shared by his son, Morgan Margolis. “The family plans to hold a private funeral and memorial,” Fox News adds.
The following statement was shared by Robert Kolker, the longtime manager of Mark Margolis:
“He was one of a kind. We won’t see his likes again,” Kolker states. “He was a treasured client and a lifelong friend. I was lucky to know him.”
An additional statement was shared by his agent, Robert Attermann:
“Over the years, Mark has not only dazzled audiences with his exceptional performances he was also an incredibly kind man was a great sense of humor who loved his family,” Attermann began. “His dedication to his craft is evident in the numerous memorable roles he brought to life, captivating audiences with his remarkable range and skill. Beyond Mark’s on-screen achievements, his genuine and approachable demeanor has made him a pleasure to work with. As both an actor and a person, Mark’s enduring excellence and amiable nature have left an indelible impression on those fortunate enough to collaborate with him and know him. He will certainly be missed.”
His first feature film role is credited as the 1976 film The Opening of Misty Beethoven. He continued to have roles in such films as Dressed to Kill, Christmas Evil, and Scarface. His other appearances include Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, Pi, and Hannibal. Of course, as mentioned, he had become quite well-known for his appearances in the hit television shows Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
