Barbie has been a popular success. Many fans are delighted by the performances given by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken, respectively. Now a video between Ryan Gosling and an additional cast member, Simu Liu, is making social media users cringe – and Liu has addressed it.
The video begins with Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu posing for photos. Liu has his hand placed on Gosling’s back. Eventually, Gosling says something to Liu, and Liu responds with the following:
“That’s too tender, you think?”
It’s a cringe-worthy moment and it’s easy to see why the footage has gone viral. Additionally, fans seem to take it as a sign that Simu Liu is something worth disliking. Liu has faced backlash online in the past, but with this new video making the rounds online, it looks like fans are latching onto a new way to criticize Liu. Especially if they can suggest Ryan Gosling feels the same way.

Simu Liu has since responded to the incident, saying:
Nevertheless, it hasn’t been enough to harm the movie’s performance. As mentioned, Barbie is a popular success, and that means for both the box office and moviegoers. The film has famously become associated with Oppenheimer, which opened at the same time, and the two have thus become collectively known as “Barbenheimer.” Perhaps it’s signaling a comeback for the double-features of the past.
Barbie was directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film’s script with her partner Noah Baumbach.
In addition to Margot Robbie as the titular Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the film’s ensemble cast also includes Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell.
Fans can currently see Barbie in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the film as we have them.
