Fans are eagerly awaiting the next movie in the Venom franchise. The Spider-Man spin-off series has been incredibly successful for Sony. In fact, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock aka Venom even appeared for a brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Of course, the cameo ended with the character being sent back to his own universe. This has left fans wondering what direction Venom 3 would take the franchise, and fortunately, now we know the release date for the film.
Interestingly, the release date is quite different from the past two iterations of the franchise. Both Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage were given October release dates. As for Venom 3, it looks like fans can expect to the film to hit at an even earlier date in 2024.
The film will be released on July 12, 2024, and as shared via Deadline, “Sony always had that date on reserve.” Interestingly, they also note that the film will be “up against a New Line horror movie” so we should expect some healthy competition at the box office. So far, however, the films have managed to earn $1.36 billion at the box office.
Hopefully we’ll have more details regarding the film soon. Unfortunately, there are ongoing strikes with both the WGA and SAG-AFTRA. As such, it could be awhile before production on Venom 3 resumes, and it could very well have an impact on the release date. We’ll just have to see what happens in the near future. For now, though, this is the first date that fans have been given for the film’s release.
Kelly Marcel is directing the film in addition to having penned the film’s script. The screenplay is based on a story she co-wrote with star Tom Hardy.
Fans can see Venom 3 in theaters on July 12, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the highly-anticipated Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage sequel as we have them.
