The new Barbie movie is finally here. Fans are delighted by Margot Robbie and her fabulous performance as the iconic character. In fact, the hype began with the film’s first promotional materials, and that included a hilarious joke involving Margot Robbie and her feet.
Now, as shared in an interview with CinemaBlend, Margot Robbie has responded to the attention to her feet. She claims to be “really flattered” by fans that have found themselves stunned by her feet in the film.
Here’s what she had to say:
“The very first time I Googled myself — you know how when you type something into Google and it predicts what the rest of it is going to be? — I’d started working and I was on some things and I hadn’t Googled myself before,” Robbie explained. “And so I wrote in ‘Margot Robbie’ and before I finished writing ‘Robbie,’ ‘Margot Robbie feet’ came up.”
Interestingly, she wasn’t weirded out, but rather “really flattered that people are excited about [her] feet,” adding “I think that’s lovely. I don’t feel weird about it. I am actually like, that’s nice.”
It’s certainly a wholesome response to the whole matter. And it goes to show how glad Robbie is that fans are connecting to her and her performance as Barbie in the film. After all, the movie has a rather subversive take on the titular character, and the gag with her feet being posed much like the iconic doll’s is just one small glimpse of that.
Barbie was directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film’s script with her partner Noah Baumbach.
In addition to Margot Robbie as the titular Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the film’s ensemble cast also includes Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell.
Fans can finally see the highly-anticipated film Barbie in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the film and star Margot Robbie as we have them.
