It looks like Lionsgate has something special planned for fans of the Saw film franchise. As you can see below, the new film Saw X features the return of Tobin Bell. Additionally, they’ve just announced that the film’s release date is moving up from October to September!
Fans may be curious how Tobin Bell will return as Jigsaw this time around. After all, his character was killed off quite early in the series. Though he has appeared in subsequent installments, particularly through the use of flashbacks. This time, as shared by Deadline, it looks like the entirety of Saw X takes place between Saw and Saw II.
The setup for the sequel is as follows:
“John Kramer (Tobin Bell) is back, and it’s the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s final games. Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. The infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”
Now, here’s the first look at Tobin Bell in Saw X:

It sounds as though this film will certainly be a return to form. If nothing else, fans should no doubt enjoy having Tobin Bell back as the film’s primary antagonist. It’s been a long time without his particular form of dread and intimidation.
Saw VI and Saw: The Final Chapter director Kevin Greutert directed this new installment of the franchise. He previously edited the first five Saw films as well along with Jigsaw.
With Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith portraying their respective characters from the franchise, the film also includes newcomers Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Joshua Okamoto, Octavio Hinojosa, Synnøve Macody Lund, Steven Brand, and Michael Beach.
This next installment in the Saw film franchise, Saw X, is now scheduled to be released on September 29, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional Saw updates as we have them.
