Taylor Swift’s latest album, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), has finally dropped. Unfortunately, Taylor Swift fans are disappointed now that a mistake with the album has been uncovered. It looks like some fans weren’t getting the music they were hoping for.
A new TikTok video brought the mistake to light and the error has been going viral ever since. It looks like the error happened with Swift’s record label, however, Republic Records. They appear to have put the wrong music on some of the vinyl copies of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).
As noted by the TikTok video, the albums actually contain music from British post-punk band Cabaret Voltaire. The record label also released a statement in response to the viral discovery. This information was shared via Deadline where they released the following:
“We are aware that there are an extremely limited number of incorrectly pressed vinyl copies in circulation and have addressed the issue. If you have purchased one of the affected goods, please contact customer service at your respective retailer for a replacement or refund.”
Here’s the video in which the news about the Taylor Swift album mix-up first went viral:
@mischief_marauder send help I got speak now (not Taylors version) this is so funny #speaknowtaylorsversion @Taylor Swift @Taylor Nation #erastour #speaknoworchid ♬ original sound – Rachel ✨
The news comes as Swift continues her ongoing Eras Tour. The new tour has been an incredible success so far and Swift has been making headlines left and right. Hopefully the next news about her career is positive following this unfortunate mix-up with her record label. On the bright side, Republic Records seems to be on top of the situation and eager to help any fans that received the wrong pressing.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Taylor Swift updates as we have them. For now, this is no doubt inconvenient for any fans that were hoping to hear Swift’s “Mine (Taylor’s Version)” and ended up with Cabaret Voltaire’s “Soul Vine (70 Billion People).
