It was believed that the ordeal between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp ended with their infamous lawsuit. Now, however, it looks like Amber Heard is once again facing legal issues following the outcome of the trial.
The two’s legal teams eventually settled the amount which Heard owed, and it turned out to be as much as $15 million. It wasn’t long after that Heard eventually moved to Spain with her daughter to get back on her feet. Now, however, Heard is once again dealing with legal issues as shared via RadarOnline.
They’ve shared the news that Heard’s insurance company refuses to drop their case against her. As mentioned, her legal team already worked out a deal with Depp’s team, so Heard is eager to have the insurance company drop their case. The company, New York Marine and General Insurance Co., sued Heard in July 2022.
Their lawsuit began after Heard demanded they pay a portion of her fees owed to Depp. And, though they acknowledge she had a $1 million liability policy, one that does cover defamation, there’s a provision that they’re using against Heard. Specifically, they claim that they’re not liable if Heard is found to have “willfully” committed the wrongful conduct. Heard quickly filed her own countersuit in response.
Now that the amount she owes Depp is settled, however, the insurance company is still refusing to drop the case. “There is nothing left to dispute,” Heard said to the judge, but the insurance company “refuses to stipulate to dismissal of” their claims. The judge has yet to rule but Heard’s lawyer shared the following:
“Currently, New York Marine faces no real or threatened economic harm from Ms. Heard, as she has withdrawn her claim for indemnity and is not seeking any defense costs from New York Marine unless and until this Court’s dismissal order is reversed on appeal.”
