Fans have long wondered if Amber Heard would remain part of DC‘s upcoming film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. Now the controversial actress has opened up about her involvement and return to acting.
As fans know, Amber Heard and Johnny Depp were both involved with quite the controversial lawsuit. The suit mostly ended in Depp’s favor. Nevertheless, both celebrities are doing their best to move on, and that includes participating in upcoming film projects.
For Amber Heard, this includes appearing in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and per Deadline, she’s opened up about her role. Heard acknowledges the “pressure” that comes with “these big franchise movies” and other such details. Here’s what she shared:
“Oh, of course. These are very different kinds of projects representing two very different ends of the spectrum in my industry. There’s a ton of pressure on these big franchise movies, with millions and millions of dollars at stake, and compromises are part of trying to make it the most successful thing it can be. Then on the other end of the spectrum is a small indie film like ‘In The Fire,’ a work of art and work of love, with nowhere near the same resources, and so there are compromises there. The best luck you can have as an actor is to be able to balance both.”
She’s also “honored” to still be involved with the franchise. And, likewise, she’s glad to act in smaller-scale projects as well.
“‘Aquaman,’ that franchise and the machinery behind it, I’m very honored, honored to be a part of that. And then there are these small passion projects like ‘In The Fire,’ where I’m proud to have gotten to know the filmmaker and the cast, and we got dirty together, to breathe life into this story. There’s something cool about that, and I think success is an actor who is able to have both those things.”
Of course, DC has been struggling to find a hit in recent years, especially with the outcomes of Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and The Flash. It remains to be seen if Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will join them or wind up being one of the more celebrated DC outings.
