It’s no surprise that the DC superhero film The Flash isn’t exactly living up to expectations – critically or financially. There are plenty of reasons being given for this. Now, to add another item to the list, it looks like The Flash was leaked on Twitter, where it gathered almost 2 million views.
The Twitter user responsible for the film, named @BriYoshFR, has been suspended at this time for their actions. But the video was left up long enough to have received 1.7 million viewers. It took eight hours for the film to be removed after it was shared on June 25. For a film that hasn’t exactly been a hit at the box office, to put it lightly, this obviously didn’t help its case.
There’s always a possibility that a film could somehow make a comeback at the box office. Especially if there’s enough positive word-of-mouth. But fans seem to be disappointed by the film following the hype from so many high-profile celebrities ahead of its release. Now, between that and being leaked on Twitter to millions of views, we’ll have to see just how badly this has damaged The Flash and its chances of being a financial hit.
Either way, the DC franchise is preparing to be rebooted in just a few years, with James Gunn introducing the DCU in Superman: Legacy. It’s also possible that the inevitable reboot is a reason audiences didn’t care to see The Flash. After all, if it’s going to be retconned anyways, what’s the point in supporting such a project? It illustrates the importance of taking the time to make sure an individual project can stand on its own and truly have a reason to exist.
The DC superhero film The Flash was directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay written by Christina Hodson. The story for the film was penned by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, and Joby Harold.
The cast includes Ezra Miller, Ron Livingston, Michael Keaton, Kiersey Clemons, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Sasha Calle, and Ben Affleck.
Fans can currently see The Flash in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the film and other upcoming DC projects as we have them.
