Brie Larson is recognized by many for her role as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She notably played the part in the film of the same name, in addition to a small appearance in Ms. Marvel, and she’ll soon be suited up again in this year’s The Marvels. Of course, there are still those who like to speak negatively about her, and now her MCU co-star Samuel L. Jackson has opened up to defend Larson.
As revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone, however, she doesn’t really need his help. As he puts it, she’s “a stronger person than people give her credit for.” Indeed, if her many workout videos are any indication, Larson is quite strong both inside and out.
Here’s what Jackson had to say:
“Brie’s a stronger person than people give her credit for. She’s not going to let any of that stuff destroy her. These incel dudes who hate strong women, or the fact that she’s a feminist who has an opinion and expressed it? Everybody wants people to be who they want them to be. She is who she is, and she’s genuinely that.”
Samuel L. Jackson has been involved with the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the very beginning. Sadly, even his word likely won’t sway away the many toxic trolls that love to trash Larson on social media. Nevertheless, it goes to show that she’s still willing to put up with it to play her character, and we’ll likely be seeing plenty more of Larson (and hopefully Jackson) as the MCU continues forward.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and co-stars Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson as we have them. For now, fans can begin looking forward to The Marvels which will hit theaters later this year on November 10, 2023.
