Squid Game quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest properties to ever hit the streaming service. Now they’ll be treating fans to an all-new real-life competition series based on the hit show. As you can see below, the first look at this series, titled Squid Game: The Challenge, has been released via Netflix’s TUDUM event.
“The world’s most notorious game becomes reality,” the teaser promises. It then continues to provide viewers a look at a real-life “Red Light Green Light” with an actual recreation of the show’s giant killer doll. It’s just one impressive example of how Netflix managed to recreate the original series as a real-life competition.
Here’s the first look at Netflix’s Squid Game: The Challenge:
The new series is an unscripted game show that, much like the actual Squid Game series, has 456 contestants entering the competition. For this real-life competition, however, the contestants were chosen from all around the world. The winner of the series will receive a $4.56 million cash prize. The project was shot in two studios in the United Kingdom having been produced by Studio Lambert and The Garden.
The official logline for the series is as follows:
“Though the reality version of ‘Squid Game‘ isn’t a matter of life or death, there’s still a lot on the line: 456 players will compete to win $4.56 million, the largest cash prize in reality television history. Through a series of games, each player will be pushed to their limits and forced to ask themselves just how far they’ll go to win, with opportunistic alliances, cutthroat strategies and timely betrayals to follow.”
