Netflix has been introducing plenty of changes which has subscribers becoming upset. Now, according to a new poll, a wide number of these Netflix subscribers are prepared to boycott the streaming service depending on certain circumstances.
This was revealed in a new poll as pointed out by Newsweek. The poll they’ve conducted shows that as much as 75% of Netflix’s subscribers are willing to cancel their subscriptions if Netflix creates material they disagree with politically.
As shared below:
“A survey conducted on May 17 by Redfield & Wilton Strategies of 1,500 American adults found that 54 percent of the respondents had Netflix subscriptions, with Amazon prime Video (47 percent), Disney+ (43 percent), HBO Max (22 percent) and Hulu (38 percent) among those also making the list. Of those polled, 9 percent said that they don’t use any TV or movie streaming services.”
As such, after these adults were asked about cancelling their streaming service subscriptions over content they disagree with politically, here’s what was discovered:
“Fifty-two percent of Netflix users said that they would ‘absolutely’ boycott and cancel in such a scenario, while 23 percent answered ‘yes, maybe.’ Twenty-six percent said that this would not do so.”
And, going into more detail, 31% say they’d cancel depending on more liberal politics. But 20% would then cancel depending on support for conservative politics. Then 11% claim they’d cancel depending on any kind of political support. Furthermore, 30% said they wouldn’t cancel either way.
This poll was held at a time when many boycotts are being held for political reasons. Many brands and platforms have been aiming towards one side of the spectrum or another. In fact, as noted by Newsweek, the phrase “Go woke, go broke,” has been becoming more common with millennials. Of course, we’ll just have to see where these modern trends go.
