Elizabeth Olsen is no stranger to film or television. Her career includes such projects as Silent House, Avengers: Infinity War, and WandaVision. However, there’s one particular series on Max that Elizabeth Olsen apparently struggled with. It turns out one scene might’ve gone too far for her during production.
Elizabeth Olsen discussed the scene from the Max series, aka Love & Death, while speaking with THR. Apparently her co-star, Lily Rabe, had been pregnant at the time and thus the difficult situation. Here’s what she had to share:
“Lily was six months pregnant. It was awful. She had a double. And they also could erase [her belly] in post. But she was in a little shirt with a six-month belly! It was crazy,” Olsen began. “And she really wanted to do everything. Lily is a really physically strong human being, and so it was like real tension, physically, and there was an element where I felt safe because we had choreography, but there was an element where I didn’t want to do everything. So it was a lot of things.”
Olsen continued to explain that she eventually had to “tap out” when her scene with Rabe called for an intense fight sequence. Ultimately she had to let her stunt double do the work.
“My experience with more fight sequences isn’t hand-to-hand fighting. And so it felt kind of scary at times. And then there were moments where Lily asked me to, with the rubber ax, make contact with her body. And I tapped out and was like, ‘You’re going to have to do this with my stunt double.'”
Fortunately, everything seems to have worked out. It certainly introduces a new perspective though for anyone watching Love & Death. Especially knowing the conditions in which the cast had to shoot the series.
