It was previously reported that a sequel to Twister was in the works at Universal. Now the cast for the film, titled Twisters, has been officially announced.
As shared via Deadline, it looks like Twisters will have a rather impressive ensemble cast. Of course, with the legacy that the 1996 Twister film has, it makes sense that Universal and Amblin Entertainment want only the best for this new continuation.

It’s worth noting that neither character details nor plot details have been released at this time. Of course, it’ll be exciting to see how it will continue the events of the original 1996 film which starred Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton. The 1996 flick was also written by Michael Crichton with Jan de Bont behind the camera as director. Steven Spielberg was also involved as an executive producer.
Hopefully with production set to begin soon, we’ll have more details in the near future. Until then, at least we know Twisters will have a stacked cast, and it’ll be exciting to see what other potential cast members could appear. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
The new sequel Twisters is set to be directed by Lee Isaac Chung. The screenplay for the project was penned by Mark L. Smith. Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are attached to produce via the Kennedy/Marshall Company.
Fans will be able to see Twisters in theaters on July 19, 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional news regarding Twisters as we have it. At this rate, it looks like we’ll be receiving plenty of other updates sooner rather than later.
