It’s been revealed that Disney Plus has removed a fan-favorite horror series from their streaming platform. The series was initially added to their platform for Halloween 2021, and now just two years later, it will be removed.
The series consisted of eight episodes inspired by the works of R.L. Stine. Titled Just Beyond, the series was rather similar to the classic Goosebumps anthology series that so many kids grew up with. Unfortunately, it never received a second season. As shared via THR, the Disney Plus horror series will now “vanish” after “under-performing.”
Here’s what they shared:
“Disney is following Warner Bros. Discovery and removing under-performing titles from its streaming services in a bid to write off nearly $2 billion from its bottom line. In all, there are more than 30 shows that will be removed starting next week from the platforms in this first round of reductions. The titles will vanish starting May 26.”
Of course, there’s a possibility that Just Beyond could find life elsewhere. It’s been reported that Disney could license some of their titles to other streaming services. As such, Just Beyond may be available to stream on another platform some day. Otherwise, given that there’s no physical release, it will simply be lost to time.
The series featured Seth Grahame-Smith as writer and showrunner while R.L. Stine served as co-executive producer. Additionally, Marc Webb directed two episodes of the anthology series. With so many great names attached, including cast members like Mckenna Grace and Lexi Underwood, it’d certainly be a shame to have this series removed forever. The series was based on a number of graphic novels from Boom! Studios which were penned by Stine.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Disney Plus updates as we have them. Hopefully this isn’t the last that R.L. Stine fans will see of this underrated fan-favorite show.
