The Mortal Kombat video game franchise is being reimagined with an all-new title. The new game, Mortal Kombat 1, is set to introduce a new Mortal Kombat Universe created by Fire God Liu Kang.
As such, the new title introduces a new fighting system, different game modes, and of course Fatalities. Furthermore, we’ll have a variety of new takes on the franchise’s most beloved characters. This includes Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Shang Tsung, Johnny Cage, and numerous others.

It’s certainly an exciting announcement and one that should have fans hyped. After all, the Mortal Kombat franchise has remained a high-profile title even decades after the original game was released. In fact, with the new live-action films we’ve been getting, it’s the perfect time to reintroduce the video game franchise. Hopefully this new title delivers on that front and gives gamers something truly special to behold.
Of course, being that this is only an announcement trailer, we should hopefully have more insight into the game and its new changes in the near future. Especially with Beta access coming in just a few months – there should be plenty of details revealed soon. Until then, this trailer certainly gets the idea across.
Fans will be able to pre-order Mortal Kombat 1 on May 19, at 10:00 AM PT. Those who pre-order the game will receive Shang Tsung as a playable character. Additionally, PlayStation and Xbox players are given Beta access to the game which will be available in August.
