The next Venom film is inching closer to production. As such, casting is currently underway, and an exciting actor has just been attached to the project. It’s been revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined the cast of Venom 3.
As noted via Deadline, however, it’s currently unknown what character he’ll be playing in the film. But it’s been stated that he will “co-star opposite Tom Hardy” in the upcoming sequel. With that in mind, it seems likely that Chiwetel Ejiofor will be playing an important character in the highly-anticipated Venom sequel.
Likewise, plot details for the film have been scarce. But it’s known that Tom Hardy will once again return as the titular character following the events of Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and his small cameo from Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sony has certainly expanded their universe of Spider-Man characters in some interesting ways, so fans are eager to see if and how Venom 3 connects.
Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor previously played the character Baron Mordo in the MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. His non-Marvel credits include 12 Years a Slave and The Pod Generation. He’s also set to appear in Rob Peace and The Old Guard 2. At this rate, it’ll be great having Ejiofor in the Venom universe and seeing what character he could play on this side of live-action Marvel adaptations.
Kelly Marcel is set to direct after having penned the film’s script. The screenplay is based on a story she co-wrote with star Tom Hardy.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional Venom 3 updates as we have them. Now that casting is underway, it looks like we will have plenty of exciting news in the very near future. For now, knowing that both Tom Hardy and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be starring in the film certainly paints an exciting image for eager fans.
