Venom 3 is being prepped for production. Now the working title for the film is said to have been revealed – and seems to tease which comic book character might be the villain of Venom 3.
As shared via Cosmic Circus, the working title of Venom 3 is actually quite simple. It’s reportedly being called “Orwell.” This is exciting for a number of reasons. Specifically because it seems to be a callback to a rather obscure Spider-Man character.
Of course, it could also be referencing 1984 author George Orwell. But there does seem to be a more obvious connection with comic book character Orwell Taylor. This character has encountered Venom and Eddie Brock in the comics, namely Venom: Lethal Protector, and he even creates a team called The Jury to try and kill Venom once and for all.
Of course, their missions never succeed, and they continue their ventures elsewhere. But they are involved with the Life Foundation which fans will remember from the first Venom movie. So the theory that Venom 3 revolves around this character does appear to be valid.
We’ll have to wait and see whether or not the theory does come to pass. But Orwell certainly must have some kind of meaning as the film’s working title. It may as well be that it’s referencing Orwell Taylor. Hopefully we’ll know for certain soon as the film is set to begin production. Unless, of course, the writers strike causes any potential delays with the sequel. But so far it looks like everything is moving ahead as planned. As such, we could see the film released as soon as 2024.
Kelly Marcel is set to direct after having penned the film’s script. The screenplay is based on a story she co-wrote with star Tom Hardy.
