Netflix had a massive hit with the blockbuster horror movie Bird Box. Now, after several years of development, the first follow-up is on the way. The new film, a spin-off titled Bird Box Barcelona, will take the franchise into Spanish-language territory and further build the original film’s world. It’s all teased in a brand-new announcement trailer for Bird Box Barcelona shared below.
Interestingly, fans won’t have much longer to wait for the highly-anticipated spin-off. The film is actually set to premiere in just a few months. After years of development, it looks like Netflix is finally ready to once again utilize the Bird Box name following the success of Sandra Bullock’s original outing.
The basis of the film’s plot is described as follows:
“From the producers of the global phenomenon, Bird Box, comes BIRD BOX BARCELONA, an expansion of the film that riveted audiences in 2018. After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona. As he forms uneasy alliances with other survivors and they try to escape the city, an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.”

It’s definitely an exciting look at what’s to come for fans of Bird Box. And, without that long of a wait before the film’s release, we’ll probably have additional glimpses sooner rather than later.
The Last Days and Carriers directors Alex and David Pastor are directing the spin-off film.
The cast for the film includes Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Diego Calva, Patrick Criado, Lola Duenas, Gonzalo De Castro, Michelle Jenner, and Leonardo Sbaraglia.
