Fans have been eagerly awaiting Stranger Things Season 5. It took quite a few years for the fourth season to premiere following several delays after the third season was released. Sadly, it looks like we have some bad news regarding Stranger Things Season 5 on that front.
The bad news is that the new Stranger Things season is now facing a delay. And it’s unclear when exactly the new season of the hit series could start production as a result. As shared via THR, the delay is the result of “the labor unrest between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.”
In fact, creators Matt and Ross Duffer released a statement on the matter on Twitter:
“Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then – over and out. #wgastrong.”
Stranger Things is only one of numerous projects to stop production during the writers strike. As such, we’ll have to see what other potential shows or films could be delayed next. It’s certainly an unstable time for the entertainment industry and one can only hope that things are improved and allowed to go back to normal sooner rather than later. Until then, it looks like fans will be waiting quite awhile longer before the next season of Stranger Things goes into production.
In addition to Stranger Things Season 5, which will be the final season of the hit Netflix series, there are several other Stranger Things projects in development. This includes two separate live-action and animated Stranger Things spin-off shows. Hopefully we’ll have more news on everything in the works soon. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates as we have them.
