Members of the WGA are currently on strike. Some writers, however, have decided to have a little fun with the strike by calling out Jenna Ortega.
Jenna Ortega has become a household name in just the last few years. Her appearances in X, Scream, and Scream VI have made many consider her to be a modern-day Scream Queen. It’s her work on the hit Netflix series Wednesday, however, that has writers making fun.
Ortega has famously discussed in interviews how she rewrote certain aspects of the scripts for Wednesday. Now writers are jokingly insisting that Ortega has to come and protest with them. For starters, BoJack Horseman writer Nick Adams shared the following tweet:
Jenna Ortega better be back from NY for her afternoon shift on the picket line.

On that same note, The Bear writer Karen Joseph Adcock added this to his statement:
Rewriting is writing! See you at the line, Jenna! 🖤 https://t.co/9S3TfBXW4c

Similarly, House Party writer Brandon Cohen is said to have been spotted with a picket sign referencing Jenna Ortega. The sign reads:
“Without writers, Jenna Ortega will have nothing to punch up!”

Of course, some fans of Jenna Ortega didn’t find the humor in these comments. Many of them felt it was uncalled for to bring her into the discussion. In any case, Jenna Ortega’s work on Wednesday seems to have worked for the best, with many fans grateful for both her performance and the various changes that she managed to get across.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the writers’ strike as we have them. The strike first began earlier this week with many writers hoping to improve their union contracts. Especially as both streaming and artificial intelligence continue to take a hold on Hollywood. The entertainment landscape is certainly changing and we’ll have to see what happens going forward.
As for Jenna Ortega, her career continues to grow, with her being rumored for a role in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel. She’s also set to return for a second season of Wednesday.
