Production is currently underway on the next installment of the Alien film franchise. The new film is said to be a stand-alone take on the iconic sci-fi horror franchise. Now director Fede Alvarez has shared a photo from the set of his highly-anticipated Alien film.
The photo was shared to celebrate that today, April 26, is actually “Alien Day.” Fans get quite a good look at the new film in the photo too which is especially exciting. Not only is a Facehugger clearly visible as it wraps itself around a clapperboard – the setting is clearly visible. It looks like the set of either a space station or colony not unlike the one featured in Aliens. In fact, for those eagle-eyed viewers, the classic Weyland-Yutani logo from Aliens is clearly visible.
Here’s the Alien set photo shared by Fede Alvarez on Twitter:

Here’s what we know about the setup of the film which revolves around “a group of young people” to tell its story:
“On a distant colony, the group finds themselves in a fight for their lives with the titular alien, a creature known as a Xenomorph, whose race propagates by implanting eggs into people’s stomachs via face-huggers, with the juveniles eventually violently bursting out of the host’s chest.”
Fede Alvarez is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues.
The cast of the film includes Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, Aileen Wu, and Isabela Merced.
A release date for the new Alien film has yet to be released. But it seems likely that fans can expect to see it premiere sometime in 2024. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on the highly-anticipated Alien flick as we have them. For now, it looks like a splendid return to the roots of the franchise.
