The Insidious film franchise is finally returning to theaters. The newest installment, titled Insidious: The Red Door, brings back several characters from the original film – many of which you can see in the trailer below.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting another chapter in this beloved series. Especially since the last few films have mostly been prequels rather than sequels. Now, however, the original storyline is being picked up all these years later. And, excitingly enough, it looks just as frightening as ever.
As mentioned, this definitely looks like the continuation that fans have been hoping for. Especially after years of prequels focusing on Lin Shaye’s character. Of course, while those films will always have a place with fans, it’s about time we get to see what happened to other fan-favorite characters. Let’s hope the new film delivers on that front. Though if this newly-released trailer is any indication – then Insidious: The Red Door definitely will.
Here’s the first official trailer for Insidious: The Red Door:
The events of this sequel take place after Josh (Patrick Wilson) takes his college-aged son, Dalton (Ty Simpkins), to college. Of course, Dalton’s demons seem to follow him to his new school.
Insidious: The Red Door was directed by star Patrick Wilson, who also returned to act in the film. The screenplay was written by Scott Teems based on an original story by Leigh Whannell.
Original Insidious stars Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins all return alongside newcomers Sinclair Daniel, Peter Dager, and Hiam Abbass.
The project will be produced by Jason Blum, James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Oren Peli.
Insidious: The Red Door is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 7, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates on this highly-anticipated fifth installment in the Insidious film franchise as we have them. For now, the newly-released trailer is definitely an exciting look at the film.
