The fifth season of Stranger Things is currently set to be the last season of Netflix’s hit series. And while a live-action spin-off series is currently in the works, it looks like Netflix also has plans for an animated Stranger Things spin-off.
This exciting news was revealed via Variety. Of course, many of the details are being kept under wraps. Though they were able to confirm that Eric Robles and Flying Bark Productions developed the spin-off. They have the following to share regarding Robles:
“Robles has previously created the animated shows Random! Cartoons, Fanboy & Chum Chum, and Glitch Techs.”
With such projects under his belt, it’ll be interesting to see what he has planned for Stranger Things. On that note, the creators of Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers, are very pleased with his work. They released the following statement:
“We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling,” they began. “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…”
It’s unknown how exactly Stranger Things will translate to such a medium. But if the Duffer Brothers are happy – then odds are fans will be too. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon. The live-action Netflix series has created a fantastic fictional world that’s ripe for exploration. And while it’s unclear how the flagship series is set to end – much less what directions these spin-off projects will take – it will certainly be an enjoyable ride for fans. Let’s hope it won’t take long for these additional projects to get off the ground.
