It’s been unclear how the recent arrest and allegations made against Jonathan Majors will impact his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, his Kang the Conqueror role was intended to be the next big bad for the franchise. Now it looks like Marvel is already “discussing options” for Jonathan Majors.
Insider Jeff Sneider revealed as much while speaking on the Hot Mic podcast. He claims that Marvel Studios hasn’t quite “made any decisions” yet regarding Majors’ role. But they are involved in discussions with Majors’ agent in an effort to “discuss potential options going forward.”
As stated below:
“I’ve heard that Marvel hasn’t made any decisions regarding Jonathan Majors but they’ve met with or spoken to his agent to discuss potential options going forward.”
Kang the Conqueror is supposed to appear in multiple MCU projects going forward. He’s already appeared in both the first season of Loki and most recently in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. In fact, the biggest aspect to his character is that there are multiple variants of Kang across the Multiverse. Thus it makes sense that we were supposed to be seeing many more appearances from Jonathan Majors.
But, given his current legal situation, it’s unknown how excited Marvel would be with having Majors being the face of their next big bad. Especially if his reputation sours following this recent arrest. Of course, Majors has insisted that he’s completely innocent, so we’ll have to see what happens going forward. But it’s clear that Marvel wants to have options prepared for either outcome. Especially before they make any decision that might be considered premature.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Jonathan Majors and his ties with Marvel as we have them. For now, Majors is expected to reprise his role for the second season of Loki. His scenes for the series were already shot prior to his arrest.
