Jennifer Lopez is receiving criticism and backlash after unveiling her latest product. Specifically because this controversial product is said to be rather “off-brand” for Jennifer Lopez and her non-alcoholic lifestyle.
Indeed, the new product announced by Lopez is an all-new alcohol brand. The brand, labeled Delola, is inspired by the Italian coast. The news was shared by the 53-year-old star in an Instagram post that details why she chose to launch such a brand.
Here’s what she had to share in the video’s caption:
“The secret is out!!! I’m proud to share with you @DELOLA … my new collection of unique, mixology-level ready to enjoy spritzes. More is #OnTheJLo. Let’s live the #DelolaLife together”
As for the video itself, she can be heard giving the following statement:
“I have been grinding non-stop for decades, and more and more I’m realizing the importance of enjoying life,” Lopez begins. “I just wanted to create something better — something better tasting, better ingredients, something I would want to drink with my friends and family, and that is Delola.”

Of course, as mentioned, Lopez is famously not a supporter of alcohol. It’s surprising, then, that she chose to launch a line for alcoholic beverages. Many fans quickly criticized her in the comments for the video. For example, here’s one comment specifying how “off-brand” this decision feels:
“Why not create a NA brand considering you’ve been outspoken about the negative affects of alcohol and that you yourself don’t drink? This feels so off-brand for you, genuinely curious why you’re selling alcohol.”
Another comment points out that Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez’s husband, is recovering following his issues with alcohol:
“I though you’ve openly talked about not being a drinker because of how bad it is for you and also your hubs is in recovery,” the commenter wrote. “This feels like such a weird move for $$, I was hoping it was an elegant NA cocktail when I first saw the post.”
Another one reads:
“For argument sake, sure it’s business and it’s about money, but it just seems fake AF to be promoting alcohol under the guise of ‘living a little’ when she talks about how bad alcohol is for her skin and is not part of her lifestyle (not to mention Ben’s past issues). But hey, we’ll all flip for a dollar right?”
One person pointed out how they were disappointed in the star:
“Ah capitalism strikes again. J.Lo was an inspiration for me to stay away from alcohol, tho (sic) she is not sober, she talked about how she rarely drinks and if she does it’s a celebratory sip, so it’s a bummer she is promoting alcohol when there are so many great NA drinks!”
Over on Twitter, users came to the defense of Jennifer Lopez:
I’m not a JLo fan but I really don’t see the problem with this

Not really, it’s just most likely a good business decision. Doesn’t matter if she doesn’t drink, it matter if makes a profit from her business move.

It’s unclear, then, why exactly Jennifer Lopez chose Delola to be her latest product. As always, stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. For now, it looks like Lopez has quite a few fans that are unhappy with the product line.
