March 31 marked this year’s Transgender Day of Visibility. And, to commemorate this date, Cartoon Network released a special video for Transgender Day of Visibility. The Warner Bros. Discovery channel took the opportunity to tell kids about using pronouns as a sign of respect.
The video, which was shared via Twitter, was also accompanied by the following caption:
“Addressing someone using their pronouns and name shows that you RESPECT them as their authentic self,” the message begins.
Then, after sharing a heart emoji, the message continues with a special shoutout to those that Transgender Day of Visibility is all about:
“We celebrate the journey of our trans and gender-non-conforming friends on this #TransgenderDayofVisibility!”

The video takes a deep-dive into pronouns and explains them to children while using text bubbles. For example, they give a brief definition, explaining that “gender pronouns describe a person’s identity.” This is further explained in the following text bubble:
“Examples of pronouns are she/her, they/them, ze/zir.”
Additionally, the video introduces the choice to use pronouns to children as well. “If you’re comfortable,” the text bubble reads, “you can share your own pronouns!”
The video continues to demonstrate children meeting one another and introducing their pronouns alongside their names. The importance of using pronouns is illustrated with the following text bubble:
“Thanks y’all! When people use my pronouns, I feel respected, safe and included.”
Likewise, another character adds that it’s “a relief to know people who affirm who I am.” The following line then concludes the video:
“Using someone’s pronouns shows respect. We all need to be seen and loved for who we are!”
Cartoon Network continued to celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility with an additional post for the NBJC. The NBJC, formally known as the National Black Justice Coalition, acts as “America’s leading national civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer+, and same gender loving (LGBTQ+/SGL) people.”
