The highly-anticipated MCU series Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney Plus in June. Now some exciting details about the series have just been announced by Marvel – including which major character Emilia Clarke will be playing.
It was previously believed, due to an alleged leak, that Emilia Clarke would be playing the Marvel comic book character Abigail Brand. Though it appears that this isn’t actually the case. In fact, as shared by Vanity Fair, Emilia Clarke is playing a character we’ve already seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Fans are already aware that Secret Invasion will feature a variety of Skrull characters. And, as it turns out, Emilia Clarke will be playing a Skrull character we last saw in Captain Marvel. Of course, this particular version of the character was only a young girl at the time.
The character, known as G’iah, is the daughter of fellow Skrull character Talos. Now it looks like we’ll be getting to see “the little Skrull girl grown up,” as quoted by Nick Fury actor Samuel L. Jackson. It looks like there will be some kind of drama between the two that coincides with the events of this series. Of course, we’ll have to see what happens in order to be sure.
When speaking with Vanity Fair, Clarke had this to say:
“It’s hardened her for sure. There’s a kind of punk feeling that you get from this girl. She’s a refugee kid who’s had Talos for a dad, you know what I mean?”
As mentioned, it was previously believed that Emilia Clarke would be playing Abigail Brand in the series. Though this seems to no longer be true – there could still be some merit. Specifically given the possibility that G’iah is using Brand’s identity for her human form. This could mean that Emilia Clarke is actually playing both characters. Of course, this is only speculation at this time. We’ll just have to see how the storyline for Secret Invasion plays out.
Fans will be able to see the Disney Plus series Secret Invasion via Disney Plus on June 21, 2023.
